Down at SunTrust Park on Tuesday, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves will be meeting up on the MLB diamond.
In the doubleheader on Monday, Atlanta eked out a 4-3 victory in the first game and in the nightcap the Mets powered to an 8-5 win.

For the Tuesday game, the Mets will be sending out LHP Steven Matz. In his 42.2 innings and 2-3 record this year, Matz has a 3.80 ERA with 39 Ks and 19 BBs.
Leading the Mets hitters entering this set was Asdrubal Cabrera, way out front on 60 hits, 28 runs and 31 RBI. On Monday, Cabrera had one hit in the first game and Michael Conforto put up three hits with a run in the night game.
Over on the Braves’ side, on Tuesday they’re going with Anibal Sanchez. Across 14.0 innings and a 1-0 record this year, Sanchez has a 1.29 ERA with 14 Ks.
Nick Markakis led the Braves offense entering this set on 69 hits, 33 runs and 35 RBI. On Monday, Markakis logged one hit and an RBI in game one and in the nightcap Markakis had two hits and an RBI.
The Mets are 1-5 in their last six during game three of a series and 6-2 in Matz’s last eight starts. New York is also 0-6 in Matz’s last six Tuesday starts and 1-6 in his last seven starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 13-3 in their last 16 in game three of a series and the under is 17-5 in their last 22 Tuesday games. The over is 6-1 in the Braves’ last seven games versus a left-handed starter and 5-1-1 in their last seven home games versus a left-handed starter.
Matz has had some mixed results so far, but if you throw out his four earned in 4.0 innings on six hits versus the Diamondbacks, he’s allowed two earned over three starts in a span of 17.0 innings on 12 hits. That said, I think the Braves offense can take advantage here, especially later in the game. I’m going with Atlanta.
