We have some AL Central division action on the diamond on Tuesday, as the Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals hook up for game two of their three game set from Kauffman Stadium.

The Minnesota Twins will look to build some steam after snapping a four game losing streak with an 8-5 win in the series opener on Monday. Eddie Rosario led the Twins, going 1 for 4 with a double and a team-high three RBIs. Miguel Sano and Mitch Garver each had two RBIs, with Sano hitting a home run while Garver added a double. Brian Dozier added an RBI to round out the scoring for the Twins in the win, while Max Kepler went 2 for 5 with a triple and a double. Robbie Grossman has two hits and Byron Buxton added a base knock as well to cap off the offense for Minnesota in the victory. Lance Lynn got the win, improving to 3-4 this season after giving up two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five over six innings of work. Fernando Rodney struck out three over 1.1 innings of work for his 11th save of the campaign. Kyle Gibson will start game two and is 1-3 with a 4.02 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gibson is 6-4 with a 3.46 ERA and 62 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to bounce back after dropping the series opener on Monday. Mike Moustakas led the Royals with two RBIs, going 1 for 5 with a double, while Whit Merrifield and Jorge Soler each had an RBI, with Soler adding a solo home run. Jon Jay went 4 for 5 with a trio of doubles, while Alex Gordon went 3 for 5, Salvador Perez had two hits and Ramon Torres added a base knock as well in the losing effort. Jakob Junis took the loss, falling to 5-4 this season after giving up three runs on six hits while walking four and striking out seven over six innings of work. Danny Duffy will start game two and is 2-6 with a 6.14 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. In his career, Duffy is 5-1 with a 2.49 ERA and 66 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 19-3 in Gibson’s last 22 starts against a team with a losing record and 5-1 in their last 6 division matchups while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall. Kansas City is 4-17 in Duffy’s last 21 division starts and 2-10 in Duffy’s last 12 starts while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Minnesota is 6-0 in Gibson’s last 6 starts against Kansas City and 4-1 in Gibson’s last 5 road starts against Kansas City.

The plus money with the Royals is tempting considering how much success Duffy has had in his career against Minnesota, and how well Duffy bounced back in his last outing, giving up just one run. However, that doesn’t change the fact that Duffy has been atrocious for most of the season, and that the Royals have had trouble winning games with him on the mound dating back to last season. Gibson has owned teams with losing record and has owned the Royals as of late, so while this is a game I’d probably leave alone, if forced to pick, I’d lay the juice with the Twins on the road.
