The Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in game two of their three game NL Central division set in MLB action on Tuesday.
The Chicago Cubs will look to keep the ball rolling after a 7-0 victory in the series opener on Monday. Anthony Rizzo led the Cubs with three RBIs, going 3 for 4 with a home run, while Addison Russell added two RBIs, going 2 for 2 with a home run as well. Chris Gimenez and Javier Baez each had two hits, while Kris Bryant, Albert Almora Jr. and starting pitcher Mike Montgomery each had base hits as well in the victory. Montgomery got the win to improve to 1-1 this season after throwing 5.2 innings, giving up just two hits while striking out five. Jon Lester will start game two and is 4-2 with a 2.37 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lester is 5-5 with a 3.50 ERA and 67 strikeouts against Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will look for a bounce back win after their eighth loss in their last ten games following their series opening loss to the Cubs on Monday in which the Pirates mustered up just two hits. Corey Dickerson and Sean Rodriguez each had a base hit to round out the offense for the Bucs in the loss. Chad Kuhl took the loss, giving up one run on four hits while walking four and striking out five over six innings of work to drop to 4-3 this season. Ivan Nova will start game two and is 2-5 with a 4.96 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. In his career, Nova is 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA and 28 strikeouts against the Cubs.
Chicago is 7-1 in Lester’s last 8 division starts and 2-6 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 division matchups. Pittsburgh is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter and 2-8 in their last 10 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 game 2 matchups. The over is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings between these two teams in Pittsburgh.
The Pirates are starting to look like the team we expected to see coming into this season, as the offense isn't coming together and you have to wonder if the Pirates will be able to contend late in the season, well one thing that's for sure is that Pittsburgh won't be in the conversation if they keep playing like this. Chicago is playing really well lately, and Lester has been one of the more consistent arms in the rotation. The fact is, we are getting a low line to fade Pittsburgh and that's a good way to make some money so I'll lay the small juice with Chicago for another win on Tuesday.
