Coming our way Wednesday from Coors Field, the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies will be finishing up their MLB series.
The Rockies eked out a 6-5 win on Monday in extras, then in the Tuesday game Colorado did it again 11-4.

For the Wednesday matchup, the Giants will be going with lefty Derek Holland. In his 53.1 innings and 2-6 record this year, Holland has a 4.72 ERA with 48 Ks and 22 BBs.
The two Brandons—Belt and Crawford—were tied for the Giants hitting lead entering game two with 57 knocks apiece. On Tuesday, Belt had two hits and Crawford came up empty.
Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re sending out Jon Gray for the start Wednesday. In his 61.2 innings and 5-6 record this year, Gray has a 5.40 ERA with 71 Ks and 16 BBs.
Tops in hitting for Colorado this year is Nolan Arenado with 57 hits, 31 runs, 10 homers and 29 RBI. In game two, Arenado managed two hits, two RBI and a run.
The Giants are 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games and 3-7 in Holland’s last 10 starts. San Francisco is also 1-5 in Holland’s last six road starts and 1-5 in his last six starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 8-1 in Gray’s last nine Wednesday starts and 8-2 in his last 10 starts at home versus a team with a losing record. Colorado is also 1-4 in Gray’s last five starts with four days’ rest and the under is 4-0 in his last four home starts.
Holland has been a little up and down lately, but he does have two quality starts in his last three and has gone at least 6.0 innings in each. Gray has been somewhat shaky, with 15 earned over his last three in a span of 15.0 innings. I’m not ready to trust Gray again just yet so I’m going with the Giants on this one. It also might be a reasonable spot for the over.
