NL Central MLB action features the Pittsburgh Pirates hosting the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
The Chicago Cubs turned to their offense Tuesday to outscore Pittsburgh 8-6. Chicago starter Jon Lester was charged with four runs on eight hits including two homers over six innings before Brian Duensing gave up two runs in the 9th.

The Cubs racked up 14 hits and four walks with Anthony Rizzo going solo while Ben Zobrist and Kyle Schwarber both went 2-5 with homers, four RBI’s and three runs. Ian Happ, Jason Heyward and Lester each gave the Cubbies a run and RBI as every starter but one reached base.
The Cubs give Wednesday’s starting assignment to right hander Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks defeated San Francisco 6-2 last time out with a run given up on two hits and two BB in seven innings of work.
The Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen struggled and a late rally fell short in Tuesday’s loss to the visiting Cubs. Pittsburgh starter Nick Kingham gave up three runs on eight hits over 5.2 frames while Edgar Santana allowed three runs in the 7th and Michael Feliz was charged with two more runs in the 8th.
The Pirates totaled 13 hits with Elias Diaz going deep followed by Austin Meadows with three hits including a solo jack and two runs while Starling Marte went 3-5 with three runs driven in while also scoring.
Joe Musgrove toes the rubber for his second straight start on Wednesday. Musgrove looks to duplicate an 8-1 win where he gave up five hits and struck out seven through seven frames.
Under is 5-2-1 in Chicago last 8 road games and Chicago are 7-2 in Hendricks' last 9 Wednesday starts and over is 8-3 in Hendricks' last 11 Wednesday starts. Pittsburgh are 2-8 in their last 10 overall and Pittsburgh are 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass and over is 7-2 in Pittsburgh last 9 Wednesday games.
Hendricks has been solid in this matchup while Musgrove is a bit of a wild card. I’d do something small on the Cubs if I bet this…
