The Washington Nationals go on the road to take the field at the Atlanta Braves in a Thursday MLB tilt.
The surging Washington Nationals have themselves in a virtual tie atop the NL East with Atlanta with six consecutive victories after besting Baltimore 2-0 on the road Wednesday. Washington ace Max Scherzer was dominant with two hits allowed while striking out eight over eight innings to up his record to 9-1.

The Nationals did their damage on seven hits and a pair of walks with Bryce Harper clubbing his 18th homer while Juan Soto recorded an RBI single that scored Wilmer Difo.
The Nationals send right hander Tanner Roark to the hill Thursday to oppose the Braves. Roark comes off of a 4-1 win (ND) at Miami with a run allowed on four hits and two BB over seven frames.
The Atlanta Braves look to get back in the win column after a 4-1 loss to the visiting Mets Wednesday that dropped the team to second in the National League East. Atlanta struggled at the plate and strong pitching went for naught as Julio Teheran gave up two runs through seven innings to get saddled with the loss.
The Braves mustered five hits and walked twice with Johan Camargo accounting for the scoring with his 4th homer. The Braves have named Sean Newcomb as Thursday’s starter against Washington. Newcomb comes off of an 8-6 loss (ND) at the Red Sox with three runs plated on six hits and four BB over three innings.
Washington are 20-6 in their last 26 overall and Washington are 20-6 in their last 26 games on grass and under is 6-2-2 in Washington last 10 Thursday games. Atlanta are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and over is 4-1 in Atlanta last 5 overall and over is 4-1 in Atlanta last 5 home games. Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings and Washington are 42-20 in the last 62 meetings.
Roark is a guy who I simply don’t trust but he seems to up his game when he sees an Atlanta uniform so hopefully he rises up to the occasion again…
