The New York Mets welcome the Chicago Cubs to town in a Saturday MLB matchup.
The Chicago Cubs have been too much for the NY Mets in the first two games of their series after taking a 7-4 victory on Friday. Chicago starter Tyler Chatwood gave up a pair of runs over 5.1 frames before five relievers were need to quell the Mets.

The Cubs racked up 16 hits and walked twice with Kyle Schwarber connecting on a three run jack and drove in four while Ben Zobrist had three hits, knocked in a run and scored. The Cubs have named Yu Darvish as the starter at the NY Mets on Saturday. Darvish is gunning for back to back wins after downing Cincinnati 6-1 with a run scoring over six frames.
The New York Mets need a change in momentum and didn’t find it Friday with the bullpen and bats struggling. New York was looking good with starter Zack Wheeler allowing two runs over six frames but Paul Sewald was charged with four runs over 1.2 innings to absorb the loss.
The Mets did their damage on six hits and six bases on balls with Brandon Nimmo going 2-4 with a two run jack while Adrian Gonzalez smacked a two run single. Jacob deGrom toes the rubber against the visiting Chicago Cubs for the first time in 2018. DeGrom did not get a decision last time out in a 4-3 loss time out with a run scoring over seven innings.
Under is 6-2 in Chicago last 8 overall and under is 6-2 in Chicago last 8 on grass. NY Mets are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and NY Mets are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass and under is 9-4 in NY Mets last 13 overall. Chicago are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in New York.
If the Mets are going to win one this would be it but looking at deGrom’s record we see New York can’t help out their best hurler with any consistentcy…
