The Miami Marlins and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in the finale of their three game set in MLB action from Chase Field on Sunday.
The Miami Marlins will look to bounce back to avoid the sweep and snap a five game losing streak following a 6-2 loss in game two on Saturday. Lewis Brunson hit a solo pinch-hit home run, while Brian Anderson went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI to round out the scoring for the Fish in the loss. Starlin Castro went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles while J.T. Realmuto, Justin Bour, Miguel Rojas, JT Riddle and Bryan Holaday all added base hits in the losing effort. Caleb Smith took the loss after giving up five runs on five hits while striking out five over four innings of work. Dan Straily will start game three and is 2-1 with a 3.69 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. In his career, Straily is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 17 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to complete the sweep and keep the ball rolling after winning four of their last five games following their win on Saturday. David Peralta led the D-Backs with two RBIs, going 1 for 3 with a home run. Paul Goldschmidt added a solo home run, while Ketel Marte added a triple and an RBI and Deven Marrero and Jeff Mathis each added an RBI to round out the scoring for Arizona in the win. Nick Ahmed added a double, while Jarrod Dyson and Chris Owings added a base knock each to cap off Arizona’s offense in the win. Zack Greinke got the win, improving to 4-4 this season after giving up one run on seven hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings of work. Matt Koch will start game three and is 3-3 with a 4.31 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season. This will be Koch’s first career start against Miami.
Miami is 6-1 in Straily’s last 7 starts and 0-5 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the NL West. Arizona is 2-8 in their last 10 games against the NL East and 6-16 in their last 22 games overall while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 Sunday games. Miami is 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Arizona.
It’s no secret that Koch has gotten torched lately, giving up five or more runs in two of his last three starts. However, I’m not sure Miami is capable of scoring that many runs right now, and Arizona seems to have woken up out of their slumber at just the right time. Straily may be the best or second best arm in the Miami rotation, but Arizona’s offense is clicking right now and should be able to ride that to a sweep on Sunday.
