The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies meet in the finale of their three game NL West division set in MLB action on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to complete the sweep of Colorado after putting up double digit runs for the 2nd straight game, winning game two by a final score of 12-4 on Saturday. Breyvic Valera led the Dodgers with three RBIs, while Jon Pederson, Chris Taylor and Matt Kemp each had two RBIs, with Pederson going 4 for 5 with a pair of solo home runs and a double, while Kemp added a homer as well and Taylor went 2 for 3 with a triple. Yasmani Grandal and Yasiel Puig each had RBIs of their own in the win, while Justin Turner also added a base hit. Walker Buehler gave up all four runs on eight hits over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Pedro Baez got the win to improve his mark to 2-3 this season. Alex Wood will start the finale and is 1-4 with a 3.75 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wood is 4-3 with a 5.44 ERA and 43 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep after dropping the first two games of the set, doing all of their scoring in the 2nd inning in Saturday’s defeat. DJ LeMahieu had a double with two RBIs, while Charlie Blackmon and Tony Wolters each had an RBI as well to round out the scoring for the Rockies in the defeat. Trevor Story went 3 for 4 with a double of his own, while Nolan Arenado went 2 for 4 and Ryan McMahon added a base knock as well to cap off the offense for Colorado in the loss. German Marquez gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out eight over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Bryan Shaw took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the year. Chad Bettis will start game three and is 4-1 with a 3.68 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bettis is 2-2 with a 4.75 ERA and 35 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 5-0 in their last 5 road games and 24-11 in Wood’s last 35 starts while the over is 3-1-1 in Wood’s last 5 road starts. Colorado is 16-3 in Bettis’ last 19 home starts against a team with a losing record and 4-1 in their last 5 games after losing the first two games of a series while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. The over is 5-2-1 in Bettis’ last 8 starts against the Dodgers.

The plus money with Colorado is tempting, as you could argue that Bettis has been the best pitcher for the Rockies this season. However, both starters gave up five runs respectively in their last start, and both offenses are capable of going off at any moment. So instead of trying to pick a side, I’m going to side with the over as I see it happening for a third time on Sunday.
