For the Thursday game, the White Sox will be bringing out RHP James Shields for the start. In his 76.1 innings and 1-6 record this year, Shields has a 4.48 ERA with 51 Ks and 31 BBs.
Jose Abreu is the top Sox hitter this year, and he entered game three with 68 hits, 31 runs, 10 homers and 35 RBI. On Wednesday, Abreu had a hit and a run.
For the Twins, they’re rolling out Jose Berrios on Thursday. Across his 74.2 innings and 6-5 record this year, Berrios has a 3.86 ERA with 74 Ks and 14 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Twins this season is Eddie Rosario, who came into Wednesday with 71 hits, 37 runs, 13 homers and 40 RBI. In game three, Rosario went hitless.
The White Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 Thursday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game four of a series. Chicago is also 6-1 in Shields’ last seven Thursday starts and 2-7 in his last nine starts.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 0-4 in their last four Thursday games and 5-2 in Berrios’ last seven Thursday starts. Minnesota is also 14-3 in Berrios’ last 17 home starts and 4-0 in his last four starts in game four of a series.
Shields has a pretty good run going right now, with four straight quality starts and at least 7.0 innings in each one. As for Berrios, he had three quality starts in a row before giving up four earned in 6.0 versus Cleveland. This should be a pretty good pitching matchup, and I’m giving a slight edge to the Twins. The under may be the way to go though.
