The Colorado Rockies could use a feel good win here after losing five of their last seven games. The Rockies have scored 20 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 12 straight games. The Colorado Rockies have split their last 10 games when scoring at least four runs. Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with 70 hits and 36 RBI while Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story have combined for 122 hits and 71 RBI. German Marquez gets the ball, and he is 4-5 with a 4.38 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. Marquez is 0-3 with a 3.79 ERA and 35 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 6-1 in their last 7 games following an off day, 2-11 in their last 13 road games and 1-5 in Greinkes last 6 road starts. The Rockies are 6-1 in their last 7 during game 1 of a series, 0-4 in their last 4 home games and 2-6 in Marquezs last 8 home starts. The Diamondbacks are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Colorado, 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and the Rockies are 2-5 in Marquezs last 7 starts vs. Diamondbacks.
I'm really not trying to back the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road given their struggles, but we're getting Greinke at such a cheap price here. The Colorado Rockies also haven't been playing the most cosnsitent ball despite the offense waking up, and they're coming off a brutal loss to the Reds on Thursday. Greinke has also allowed just three runs in his last 12.2 innings of work and has allowed no more than two runs in six of his last seven games. I have to side with Arizona on the road.
