The Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins go head-to-head in game one of a three game set from Target Field in MLB action on Friday.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to keep the ball rolling after winning four straight, including a 4-3 win in their series finale against the Angels on Wednesday for the three game sweep. Ian Kinsler led the Halos with two RBIs, going 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while Justin Upton added a solo home run and Zack Cozart went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI of his own to round out L.A.’s scoring in the win. Luis Valbuena and Kaleb Cowart each had a double while Martin Maldonado and Chris Young contributed a base knock each as well. Shohei Ohtani gave up one run on four hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Cam Bedrosian got the win to improve to 3-1 while Blake Parker notched his 5th save of the season. Garrett Richards will start the opener and is 4-4 with a 3.25 ERA and 69 strikeouts this season. In his career, Richards is 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins will be looking to build some momentum of their own after salvaging a series split with the White Sox, including a 7-2 win in the series finale on Thursday. Eddie Rosario led the Twins with three RBIs, going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, while Eduardo Escobar added two RBIs, going 2 for 4 with a home run as well. Ehire Adrian added a solo home run and Brian Dozier chipped in a run as well to finish off Minnesota’s scoring in the win. Logan Morrison and Ryan LaMarre each had a double while Bobby Wilson added a base hit as well to cap off Minnesota’s offense in the winning effort. Jose Berrios got the win to improve to 7-5 this season, throwing a complete game, giving up just two runs on six hits while striking out ten. Lance Lynn will start game one and is 4-4 with a 5.46 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lynn is 0-1 with a 7.59 ERA and 11 strikeouts against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 in Richards’ last 5 starts against the AL Central while the under is 13-3-3 in their last 19 games against a right-handed starter. Minnesota is 2-5 in Lynn’s last 7 starts against a team with a winning record and 0-5 in their last 5 games against the AL West while the over is 7-2 in Lynn’s last 9 starts overall. Los Angeles is 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota.

I’ve said time and time again that I simply don’t trust Lynn on the mound for Minnesota this season, and he has done a good job at making me eat my words over his last couple of starts. However, Lynn has also had struggles in his career against the Angels and the Twins barely scraped out a split with the White Sox who I feel are below average at-best this season. The Angels are playing with confidence right now and Richards might be one of the two top arms they have in that rotation, so I’ll lay the juice with the Angels on the road to draw first blood on Friday.
