Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles - 6/8/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

For the Friday game, the Orioles will be sending out RHP Andrew Cashner. In his 66.1 innings and 2-7 record this year, Cashner has a 5.02 ERA with 58 Ks and 32 BBs.

Baltimore’s leading hitter this year is Manny Machado, who entered this set with 75 hits, 32 runs, 18 homers and 49 RBI. On Thursday, Machado logged a hit and an RBI.

Over on the Jays’ side, they’re going with lefty JA Happ. In his 70.2 innings and 7-3 mark this season, Happ has a 4.08 ERA with 87 Ks and 20 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Jays is Kevin Pillar, with 58 hits, 30 runs and 22 RBI entering this set. In the Thursday game, Pillar had a hit and an RBI in a pinch-hit role.

The Orioles are 5-2 in the last seven Friday games and 15-36 in their last 51 in game two of a series. Baltimore is also 2-8 in Cashner’s last 10 starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Jays are 8-19 in their last 27 Friday games and 5-1 in Happ’s last six home starts. Toronto is also 8-3 in Happ’s last 11 starts and 1-5 in his last six Friday starts.

Cashner has had a pretty choppy year so far, but he did manage a quality start in his last outing versus the Yankees. As for Happ, he had three straight quality starts going before giving up four in 5.0 innings in Detroit his last time up. I have to give Happ and the Jays the edge here, but it could be another close one.
