The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds square off in game two of their three game NL Central division set from Great American Ballpark in MLB action on Saturday.

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to build some steam after back-to-back wins, including a 7-6 win in extra innings in Friday’s opener. Jose Martinez led the Cards with a pair of home runs, going 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Yairo Munoz added a solo homer while Matt Carpenter and Jedd Gyorko each had an RBI as well in the win. Marcell Ozuna added a triple, while Tommy Pham and Yadier Molina each had a base hit of their own in the victory. Luke Weaver went five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while walking five and striking out three, not factoring in the decision. Bud Norris notched his 2nd blown save but got the win to improve to 3-1 this season while John Brebbia got his 2nd save of the season. Michael Wacha will start game two and is 7-1 with a 2.41 ERA and 61 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wacha is 10-1 with a 2.88 ERA and 72 strikeouts against Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals - 6/9/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds will look to rebound after losing five of their last six games with the loss in the series opener on Friday. Joey Votto and Jesse Winker each had two RBIs, while Scooter Gennett and Jose Peraza each had an RBI to round out the scoring for the Reds in the losing effort, with Gennett going 2 for 5 with a double. Scott Schebler went 4 for 6 with a pair of doubles, while Eugenio Suarez added two hits to cap off Cincy’s offense in the loss. Matt Harvey gave up five runs on four hits while striking out five over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Raisel Iglesias took the loss, falling to 1-1 this season. Luis Castillo will start game two and is 4-6 with a 5.64 ERA and 64 strikeouts this season. In his career, Castillo is 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA and 7 strikeouts against St. Louis.

St. Louis is 9-2 in Wacha’s last 11 starts and 9-4 in their last 13 division matchups while the under is 22-10-3 in their last 35 games overall. Cincinnati is 10-27 in their last 37 home games and 24-51 in their last 75 games overall while the over is 5-1 in Castillo’s last 6 division starts. St. Louis is 13-3 in Wacha’s last 16 starts against Cincinnati, 10-0 in the last 10 meetings between these two tams in Cincinnati and 16-2 in the last 18 meetings overall.

This line has to be a trap. It has to be. And if it is, I’m biting 100%. We are getting an incredibly cheap line with Wacha, who has been impressive this season and has flat out owned the Reds in his career. Castillo could very well be Cincinnati’s ace, but he has an ERA just shy of six this season, and has had his struggles against St. Louis in his career. The Cardinals are without a doubt the play in this one.
