The San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals meet in game two of their three game set from Nationals Park in MLB action on Saturday.

The San Francisco Giants will look to stay hot after winning seven of their last eight games following a 9-5 win over the Nats in game one on Friday. Hunter Pence and Gorkys Hernandez each went 2 for 4 and had two RBIs, with Pence doubling while Hernandez did his damage with a two run homer. Alen Hanson had an RBI and a triple while Pablo Sandoval and Brandon Crawford each had a double and an RBI with Crawford notching a pair of two-baggers. Andrew McCutchen and Evan Longoria each added RBIs to round out the scoring for San Fran in the win, while Joe Panik added a double. Buster Posey and Mac Williamson each had a base knock to cap off the Giants’ offense in the win. Andrew Suarez gave up four runs on six hits while striking out five over 4.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Reyes Moronta got the win to improve his record to 2-0 this season. Dereck Rodriguez will start game two and is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodriguez’s first career start against Washington.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Nationals will look to bounce back after dropping game one on Friday. Bryce Harper and Juan Soto each had two RBIs, with Soto going 1 for 4 with a two run home run. Matt Adams added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for Washington in the losing effort. Michael A. Taylor added a double, while Trea Turner, Anthony Rendon, Mark Reynolds, Wilmer Difo and Adrian Sanchez all contributed base hits as well in the loss. Stephen Strasburg took the loss, falling to 6-6 this season after giving up three runs on five hits over just two innings of work before leaving due to injury. Gio Gonzalez will start game two and is 6-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 5-5 with a 3.21 ERA and 59 strikeouts against San Francisco.

San Francisco is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall and 21-43 in their last 64 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the NL East. Washington is 5-1 in Gonzalez’s last 6 starts and 24-10 in their last 34 games overall while the under is 18-7 in their last 25 games overall. The under is 20-6-2 in the last 28 meetings between these two teams.

I got burned by going against San Fran on Friday and missed out on some big plus money, but sometimes I just don’t learn. Washington is still a very good team and Gonzalez has been pretty much lights out over the last month, giving up more than two runs just once, allowing nine runs in his last seven starts, spanning 44.2 innings. Rodriguez is making just his third major league appearance, and while he stifled a solid Phillies lineup last time out, I don’t think Washington will be as kind so I’ll lay the juice with the Nationals to even the series on Saturday.
