The Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies square off in game one of their three game set from Citizen’s Bank Park in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back after losing four straight games, being swept by Arizona over the weekend after losing the series finale by a final score of 8-3 on Sunday. Ian Desmond led the Rockies, going 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, while Chris Iannetta added an RBI and a double as well to round out Colorado’s scoring in the loss. Trevor Story went 2 for 4 and Charlie Blackmon added a double, while DJ LeMahieu and Gerardo Parra also contributed base hits as well in the defeat. Kyle Freeland took the loss, falling to 6-6 this season after giving up four runs on four hits while walking four and striking out eight over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jon Gray will start game one and is 6-6 with a 5.66 ERA and 81 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA and 18 strikeouts against Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build some steam after snapping a four game slide and avoiding the sweep at the hands of Milwaukee, salvaging a 4-3 win in the series finale on Sunday. Rhys Hoskins led the Phils with two RBIs, while Odubel Herrera and Cesar Hernandez each added an RBI as well. J.P. Crawford went 2 for 4 with a double while Aaron Altherr added a pinch-hit as well to cap off Philly’s offense in the win. Zach Eflin got the win to improve to 3-2 this season after giving up two runs on three hits while striking out nine over six innings of work. Aaron Nola will start game one and is 7-2 with a 2.35 ERA and 80 strikeouts this season. This will be Nola’s second career start against Colorado.

Colorado is 0-4 in their last 4 games overall and 1-6 in their last 7 games following a loss while the over is 9-1-2 in their last 12 games overall. Philadelphia is 14-3 in Nola’s last 17 home starts and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the NL West while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. Colorado is 12-25 in the last 37 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia.

Nola gave up three runs in his last start against the Cubs and it was just the 2nd game that the Phillies have lost with Nola starting in his last nine tries. However, that’s also only the third time where Nola has allowed more than two runs in a start this season, which is why the price is so steep for a Phillies club that’s struggling right now. Gray on the other hand, is not only part of a Rockies team that can’t find any solid footing of their own, but he’s given up three or more runs in his last five starts a total of 22 runs over 23.1 innings. No thanks. Nola is Philadelphia’s ace and stopper for a reason, so I’ll lay the juice with the Phillies with the pitching advantage on Tuesday.
