Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Pittsburgh Pirates - 6/13/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

For the Wednesday game, the Pirates will be going with Jameson Taillon. In his 70.2 innings and 3-5 record this year, Taillon has a 4.08 ERA with 67 Ks and 19 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Pirates is Corey Dickerson with 73 hits, 31 runs and 32 RBI entering game two. On Tuesday, Dickerson had one hit.

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re going with Zack Greinke on Wednesday. Over 79.0 innings and a 5-4 record this year, Greinke has a 3.53 ERA with 83 Ks and 13 BBs.

Leading the way at the plate for the Diamondbacks this year is David Peralta, who brought 63 hits, 28 runs, 11 homers and 31 RBI into game two. On Tuesday, Peralta had one hit, one run and one RBI.

The Pirates are 5-0 in their last five Wednesday games and 2-6 in their last eight during game three of a series. Pittsburgh is also 3-7 in Taillon’s last 10 starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 2-7 in their last nine in game three of a series and 0-8 in their last eight Wednesday games. Arizona is also 21-6 in Greinke’s last 27 home starts and 12-4 in his last 16 starts with four days’ rest.

It’s been an up-and-down run for Taillon lately, as he’s got two quality starts in his last four, and in the other two he’s allowed nine earned over 11.0 innings. As for Greinke, he’s been a little choppy himself, with three earned in two of his last four and seven earned in the other two. Still, I think Greinke and the Diamondbacks are the safer play here.
