The Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in the finale of their mini two game interleague set in MLB action from Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.
The Texas Rangers will look to rebound and snap a five game losing streak following their 12-5 loss in game one on Tuesday. Shin-Soo Choo went 3 for 5 with a solo home run, while Jurickson Profar, Adrian Beltre and Joey Gallo each had an RBI as well in the loss. Delino DeShields went 2 for 3 to cap off the Texas offense in the losing effort. Bartolo Colon took the loss, falling to 3-4 this season after giving up eight runs on nine hits over just 3.1 innings of work. Cole Hamels will start the finale and is 3-6 with a 3.86 ERA and 79 strikeouts this season. In his career, Hamels is 3-2 with a 1.89 ERA and 54 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep their momentum going and complete the sweep on Wednesday after their win on Tuesday. Yasiel Puig led the Dodgers with three RBIs, going 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. Joc Peterson, Yasmani Grandal and Max Muncy each had two RBIs, with Pederson going 3 for 4 with a homer and two doubles, while Muncy added a home run of his own. Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger each had a double and an RBI as well to round out the scoring for the Dodgers in the win. Justin Turner went 2 for 5 with a double while Enrique Hernandez added a pinch-hit to cap off the Dodger offense in the win. Caleb Ferguson gave up two runs in four innings, not factoring in the decision, while Edward Paredes got the win to improve to 1-0 this season. Kenta Maeda will start game two and is 4-4 with a 3.61 ERA and 68 strikeouts this season. This will be Maeda’s first career start against Texas.
Texas is 4-11 in Hamels’ last 15 starts and 0-4 in their last 4 games overall while the under is 7-1-1 in Hamels’ last 9 road starts. Los Angeles is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall and 17-6 in their last 23 interleague games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. The under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
Hamels and plus money is worth a look, but the issue is that Hamels has also allowed five runs in two of his last three starts and just has an issue keeping crooked numbers off of the board. On the other hand, who knows what we will see from Maeda in his first start off of the DL, and the Dodgers’ bullpen is already ravaged as it is. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. It hit last night and given the pitching matchup I think we can cash on it again on Wednesday.
