From Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, the Washington Nationals and the New York Yankees will be meeting up in a nationally-televised MLB game.
In the Tuesday game, the Yankees scored two in the second inning and rode that wave to a 3-0 shutout win.

For Wednesday’s matchup, the Nationals will be promoting their top pitching prospect Erick Fedde to take the place of the injured Stephen Strasburg. Fedde has made one start in the majors this year, giving up three runs in 5.2 innings.
The Nationals’ leading hitter heading into this set was Trea Turner with 65 hits, 36 runs and 25 RBI. On Tuesday, Turner put up one hit.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with Sonny Gray on Wednesday. Over his 63.2 innings and 4-4 record this year, Gray has a 4.81 ERA with 58 Ks and 30 BBs.
Leading the way for the Yankees entering this series was Miguel Andujar with 63 hits, 30 runs and 28 RBI. In the opener, Didi Gregorius slapped a pair of solo homers.
The Nationals are 5-1 in their last six during game two of a series and 8-2 in their last 10 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The under is 14-4 in the Nationals’ last 18 during game two of a series and Washington is 7-0 in their last eight versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Yanks are 19-7 in their last 26 in game two of a series and 36-15 in their last 51 Wednesday games. New York is also 2-7 in Gray’s last nine starts following a quality start in his last appearance and 1-4 in his last five starts versus a team with a winning record.
Gray had a few sketchy outings going back in may, with two starts where he allowed five earned apiece. In two starts since then however, Gray has allowed just one earned on six hits in 14.0 innings. I’m still a little leery of trusting Gray to an extended run, but I’m going to go with the Yankees here.
