The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers square off in the opener of a three game NL West division set from Dodger Stadium in MLB action on Friday.

The San Francisco Giants will look to build some momentum after avoiding a sweep at the hands of Miami with a 6-3 win in 16 innings on Thursday. Andrew McCutchen and Pablo Sandoval each had two RBIs, with McCutchen going 3 for 7 with a home run, while Sandoval’s single in the 16th gave San Fran the win. Mac Williamson added a solo home run, while Gorkys Hernandez added an insurance run in the 16th as well to cap off San Francisco’s scoring in the win. Alen Hanson went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles, while Brandon Crawford went 2 for 6 at the dish to round out the Giants’ offense in the win. Ty Blach got the win after throwing 6.2 innings of relief, while Sam Dyson recorded his first save of the year. Derek Holland will start game one and is 4-6 with a 4.54 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. In his career, Holland is 0-2 with a 7.43 ERA and 9 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep their momentum going after winning 19 of their last 25 games following a two game sweep of the Rangers, including a 3-2 win over Texas in Wednesday’s series finale. Justin Turner hit a solo home run, while Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger each recorded a double. Matt Kemp, Enrique Hernandez and Logan Forsythe each contributed base hits as well as the Dodgers put up just six hits as a team in the win. Kenta Maeda gave up two runs on five hits over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Adam Liberatore got the win to improve to 2-1 this season. Ross Stripling will start game one and is 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Stripling is 0-2 with a 2.86 ERA and 16 strikeouts against San Francisco.

San Francisco is 4-1 in Holland’s last 5 division starts and 9-1 in their last 10 games against a right-handed starter while the over is 8-2-1 in their last 11 road games. Los Angeles is 5-0 in Stripling’s last 5 starts and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Los Angeles is 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Los Angeles.

San Francisco and the heavy plus money is tempting, considering that the Giants have a talented lineup and Holland has been decent lately. However, the Giants also had to play nearly two full games on Thursday, so the bullpen will be depleted for this one, and Holland hasn’t gone more than five innings in any of his last three starts. Stripling is by no means an ace, but the Dodgers have won each of his last five starts, each coming by at least two runs, so I’ll take the Dodgers to draw first blood on Friday and to negate the heavy juice, I’ll back L.A. on the run line.
