The New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks square off in game three of their four game set from Chase Field in MLB action on Saturday.
The New York Mets are in dire need of a win after losing 19 of their last 23 games, including a 7-3 loss in game two on Friday. Dominic Smith, Wilmer Flores and Todd Frazier each had an RBI to round out the scoring for the Mets in the loss, with all three recording a double as well, with Smith hitting a solo home run. Jose Reyes added a double as well, while Amed Rosario and starting pitcher Seth Lugo each chipped in a base hit as well in the losing effort. Lugo took the loss, falling to 2-2 this season after giving up five runs on eight hits while striking out seven over five innings of work. Steven Matz will start game three and is 2-4 with a 3.53 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, Matz is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to keep the ball rolling after winning eight of their last ten games following their win in game two on Friday. Daniel Descalso led the D-Backs with three RBIs, going 2 for 2 with a home run, while Paul Goldschmidt went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. Jon Jay also went 3 for 5 with a triple and an RBI and Jake Lamb added a run on the board as well. David Peralta went 2 for 3 with starting pitcher Zack Godley added a base hit as well in the win. Godley got the win to improve to 7-5 this season after giving up two runs on five hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings of work. Brad Boxberger retired the final batter in the 9th for his 16th save of the year. Patrick Corbin will start game three and is 6-2 with a 3.21 ERA and 110 strikeouts this season. In his career, Corbin is 1-3 with a 4.75 ERA and 35 strikeouts against the Mets.
New York is 1-6 in Matz’s last 7 starts against the NL West and 2-8 in their last 10 road games while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 games overall. Arizona is 4-1 in Corbin’s last 5 starts against the NL East and 6-1 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 6-1-1 in Corbin’s last 8 starts overall. New York is 5-12 in the last 17 meetings between these two teams and 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Arizona.
Corbin has been shaky as of late, as he’s allowed 15 runs in his last three home starts. However, there’s simply no backing the Mets right now, as New York just keeps finding ways to lose baseball games. Simply fading the Mets will do wonders for your bankroll over the last month, and I see no reason to go against that here since we are getting a reasonable price with the red-hot D-Backs.
