The Colorado Rockies and the Texas Rangers square off in the rubber match of their three game interleague set in MLB action from Globe Life Park on Sunday.

The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back and win the set after dropping game two on Saturday by a final score of 5-2. Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez accounted for the pair of Colorado runs in the loss, while Tom Murphy added a double. Ian Desmond, Chris Iannetta and DJ LeMahieu each chipped in a base hit as well as Colorado put up just five hits as a team in the loss. Kyle Freeland gave up two runs on eight hits while striking out three over seven innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Harrison Musgrave took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year. Jon Gray will start the finale and is 6-7 with a 5.68 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. This will be Gray’s first career start against Texas.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers will look to take the series after emerging victorious in game two on Saturday, snapping their seven game losing streak. Adrian Beltre led the Rangers with two RBIs, going 1 for 4 with a triple, while Rougned Odor added a triple and RBI of his own. Isiah Kiner-Falefa added a double and an RBI, while Jose Trevino chipped in a run on the board as well in the win. Shin-Soo Choo went 2 for 3, while Delino DeShields, Jurickson Profar, Joey Gallo and Ronald Guzman each contributed a base hit as well in the win. Mike Minor gave up both runs on five hits while striking out six over seven innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jose Leclerc picked up the win to improve to 2-2 this season. Yovani Gallardo will get the start in game three and is 0-0 with a 30.86 ERA and 2 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gallardo is 0-6 with a 6.14 ERA and 54 strikeouts against Colorado.

Colorado is 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and 1-7 in Gray’s last 8 Sunday starts while the over is 13-1-2 in their last 16 games overall. Texas is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 1-7 in their last 8 games overall while the over is 10-4-3 in their last 17 home games. Colorado is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

Do you see Gallardo’s numbers against the Rockies in his career? Uhh no thanks. On top of that, Gallardo hasn’t pitched since opening week, and when he did, he gave up eight runs in just two innings of relief. On the other hand, Gray, while winning games, has given up three runs or more in each of his last six starts. The Rockies should win this one, but they haven’t been consistently stringing wins together, so rather than try to pick a side, I’ll side with the over as this horrendous pitching matchup screams double digits on the scoreboard.
