The Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins meet in game two of their three game set from Target Field in MLB action on Wednesday.
The Boston Red Sox will be looking to rebound after dropping the series opener on Tuesday by a final score of 6-2. Rafael Devers went 2 for 4 with a solo home run, while Sandy Leon added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the BoSox in the loss. J.D. Martinez went 2 for 5 while Xander Bogaerts, Mitch Moreland and Eduardo Nunez each contributed a base hit as well in the loss. Chris Sale gave up two runs on three hits over seven innings of work, striking out eleven, but not factoring in the decision. Robby Scott took the loss, falling to 0-1 this year after allowing two runs in the 8th inning. David Price will start game two and is 8-4 with a 3.76 ERA and 79 strikeouts this season. In his career, Price is 10-3 with a 2.52 ERA and 117 strikeouts against Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins will look to build some steam after a big series opening win over Boston on Tuesday. Eduardo Escobar led the Twins with three RBIs, going 2 for 4 with a double, while Robbie Grossman went 1 for 4 with at triple and two RBIs. Ehire Adrianza and Ryan LaMarre each added a base hit as well as Minnesota mustered up just five hits as a team in the win. Jose Berrios threw 6.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits while walking three and striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Zach Duke received a blown save, but got the win to improve to 3-2 this season. Lance Lynn will start game two and is 4-5 with a 4.98 ERA and 71 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lynn is 0-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Boston.
Boston is 7-0 in Price’s last 7 starts and 45-22 in their last 67 road games while the under is 10-3 in their last 13 games overall. Minnesota is 2-6 in Lynn’s last 8 starts against a team with a winning record and 7-19 in their last 26 games against the AL East while the under is4-1 in Lynn’s last 5 starts overall. Boston is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Lynn has been better for the Twins as of late, giving up three runs or less in seven of his last eight starts, but that hasn’t always been translating to notches in the win column. Price has had his moments this season, but he’s given up three runs or less himself in his last seven starts, all of which have resulted in Boston victories. All in all, while Minnesota’s win on Tuesday was nice, I have to go with the hotter starter on Wednesday and lay the juice with Boston.
