The Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals meet in game two of their three game interleague set from Nationals Park on Wednesday.

The Baltimore Orioles will be looking to bounce back after losing 17 of their last 20 games, including a 9-7 loss in the series opener on Tuesday. Jace Peterson and Trey Mancini each had two RBIs with a home run, while Joey Rickard added a solo homer and Corban Joseph added an RBI as well in the loss. Jonathan School added a triple and Caleb Joseph added a double while Mark Trumbo and Adam Jones each contributed a base knock as well in the losing effort. David Hess gave up five runs on five hits over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision, while Tanner Scott ended up with the loss and the blown save after giving up three runs in the 7th inning. Andrew Cashner will start game two and is 2-8 with a 4.98 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cashner is 3-4 with a 4.04 ERA and 41 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington Nationals vs. Baltimore Orioles - 6/20/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Nationals will look to build some steam after snapping their four game skid with their win on Tuesday. Anthony Rendon went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, while Adam Eaton added two runs on the board. Trea Turner hit a solo home run with a double as well, going 4 for 4 at the dish, while Bryce Harper added a double and an RBI of his own. Wilmer Difo and Michael A. Taylor each added an RBI to round out the Nats’ scoring in the win, while Juan Soto and Spencer Kieboom each contributed a base hit as well in the victory. Jefry Rodriguez gave up five runs on four hits while walking three and striking out six over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Justin Miller got the win to improve to 5-0 this season, while Sean Doolittle notched his 19th save of the year. Gio Gonzalez will start game two and is 6-3 with a 3.01 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 2-6 with a 3.90 ERA and 51 strikeouts against Baltimore.

Baltimore is 2-9 in Cashner’s last 11 starts and 11-40 in their last 51 road games while the under is 9-1 in their last 10 games against the NL East. Washington is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 9-4 in their last 13 home games against a right-handed starter while the under is 21-7 in their last 28 interleague games. Baltimore is 0-6 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

Both of these hurlers got touched up in their last respective outings, and over the last couple starts as well. However, getting roughed up has been a trend for Cashner more so than Gonzalez, as Cashner has allowed three runs or more in nine of his last ten starts and is coming off of the DL with back tightness, so who knows if that’ll flare up again. I have a lot more faith in the Nationals than I do Baltimore, so I’ll lay the run on the run line with Washington to run away with this one on Wednesday.
