The Padres logged nine hits and four bases on balls with Christian Villanueva clubbing his 16th long ball while Travis Jankowski went 2-4 with an RBI and run.

The Padres have tabbed Tyson Ross as Thursday’s starter at San Francisco who he will see for the third time. Ross comes off of a 4-2 defeat at Atlanta with three runs given up on three hits and a BB in six innings.

The San Francisco Giants took a 5-1 lead against Miami Wednesday before holding on for a 6-5 victory. San Francisco starter Derek Holland gave up three runs through six frames with Sam Dyson allowing a pair of 9th inning runs.

The Giants pounded out nine hits and walked three times with Hunter Pence and Gorkys Hernandez both knocking in two runs with Pence also scoring while Brandon Belt went 3-4 with an RBI and run.

Left hander Madison Bumgarner toes the rubber against San Diego Thursday for his 4th start of 2018. Bumgarner took a 3-1 loss at the LA Dodgers last time out with all three runs plated on five hits and four BB in six frames.
