The Athletics racked up 15 hits and walked four times with Jed Lowrie, Mark Canha, Matt Olson, Franklin Barreto and Josh Phegley all going deep and combining to drive in ten runs.
Oakland gives Friday’s game two start at the White Sox to Chris Bassitt for his third straight outing. Bassitt fell to 0-2 in 2018 after an 8-4 loss to the Angels where he was charged with six runs (two earned) through four frames.
The Chicago White Sox are a bit bruised and battered as their losing streak hit six following a 12-0 defeat at Cleveland on Wednesday. Nothing went favorably for Chicago with starter Reynaldo Lopez charged with five runs on six hits and four BB over 4.1 frames before Bruce Rondon gave up six runs on three hits and three walks in the 6th inning.
The White Sox never got their offense going with two hits and a trio of bases on balls with Jose Abreu logging a double while Omar Narvaez singled and walked followed by Charlie Tilson who walked twice.
The White Sox have named Lucas Giolito as the game two starter versus Oakland who he sees for the first time. Giolito comes off of a 7-5 loss to Detroit with five runs given up with five runs scoring over 5.1 frames.
Oakland are 7-3 in their last 10 road games and are 1-7 in Bassitt’s last 8 road starts and are 2-10 in Bassitt’s last 12 starts on grass. Under is 8-1 in Chicago last 9 home games and under is 24-9-3 in Chicago last 36 overall and under is 24-9-3 in Chicago last 36 on grass.
I’m the first to say I don’t know what we’ll see from Bassitt but I’m hoping to see the Athletics to remain hot at the plate…
