We have game three of a four game NL Central division set from Coors Field as the St. Louis Cardinals battle the Milwaukee Brewers in MLB action on Saturday.

The St. Louis Cardinals are looking to rebound after losing 9 of 12, including the first two games of the set following a 2-1 loss in game two on Friday. Marcell Ozuna accounted for the lone Cardinals run in the loss, going 1 for 4, while Matt Carpenter added a double and Yadier Molina added a base hit as well as St. Louis mustered up just three hits as a team in the losing effort. Jack Flaherty gave up just a solo homer to Jesus Aguilar as his lone hit and lone run allowed over seven innings of work, striking out 13, not factoring in the decision. Bud Norris gave up a 2nd homer to Aguilar, in walk-off fashion, taking the loss to fall to 3-2 this season. Miles Mikolas will start game three and is 7-2 with a 2.69 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season. In his career, Mikolas is 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to keep their momentum going after winning three straight following their victory on Friday. Jesus Aguilar accounted for both Brewer runs in the win, going 2 for 4 with a pair of solo homers, one to break up Jack Flaherty’s no-hit bid in the 7th and the walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th. Eric Sogard added a pinch-hit as well to round out Milwaukee’s offense as the Brew Crew put up just three hits as a team in the win. Junior Guerra gave up the lone run on three hits while walking four and striking out seven over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Corey Knebel picked up the win to improve to 1-0 this season. Chase Anderson will start game three and is 5-6 with a 4.54 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 2-2 with a 3.19 ERA and 47 strikeouts against St. Louis.

St. Louis is 2-7 in their last 9 games overall and 2-5 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in Mikolas’ last 5 road starts. Milwaukee is 11-5 in Anderson’s last 16 home starts and 4-1 in their last 5 division matchups while the under is 7-1-1 in Anderson’s last 9 division starts. Milwaukee is 4-0 in Anderson’s last 4 starts against St. Louis.

Mikolas has been the more consistent starter of the two this season, and Anderson is coming off of a start where he gave up six runs in five innings. However, Mikolas has had his struggles with the Brewers, giving up eight runs in 14 innings of work, and has given up three or more runs in three of his last five starts. Those kinds of numbers aren’t horrible, but St. Louis hasn’t been playing well the last couple of weeks and keeps finding ways to lose, while Milwaukee has just had the Cardinals’ number in the first two games of the set and have done well with Anderson on the mound against St. Louis. The value is all with Milwaukee and the even money on Saturday.
