The Miami Marlins and the Colorado Rockies meet in the rubber match of their three game set from Coors Field in MLB action on Sunday.

The Miami Marlins will look to win the series after taking game two on Saturday by a final score of 6-2. J.T. Realmuto led the Fish by going 2 for 4 with a grand slam. Derek Dietrich added a solo homer as well while Justin Four added a pinch-hit RBI single to round out the scoring for Miami in the win. Starlin Castro, Brian Anderson, Yadiel Rivera, Bryan Holaday and starting pitcher Trevor Richards added base hits as well in the win. Richards got the win on the mound as well, giving up one run on three hits while striking out eight over six innings of work, improving to 2-4 this season. Caleb Smith will start the finale and is 5-6 with a 4.03 ERA and 87 strikeouts this season. In his career, Smith is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 9 strikeouts against Colorado.

Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins - 6/24/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back after dropping game two on Saturday. Gerardo Parra accounted for both Colorado runs in the loss, going 1 for 2 with a solo homer and two RBIs. Trevor Story added a double, while Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon each contributed a base knock as Colorado mustered up just four hits as a team in the losing effort. Tyler Anderson took the loss, falling to 4-3 this season after giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out eight over six innings of work. German Marquez will start game three and is 5-7 with a 5.20 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season. In his career, Marquez is 0-2 with a 5.23 ERA and 10 strikeouts against Miami.

Miami is 5-1 in Smith’s last 6 starts and 8-22 in their last 30 game 3 matchups while the over is 4-1 in Smith’s last 5 starts against the NL West. Colorado is 3-7 in Marquez’s last 10 home starts and 1-5 in their last 6 Sunday games while the over is 4-0 in Marquez’s last 4 starts overall. Miami is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings between these two teams.

If we are being honest this game is probably best to stay away from. However if forced to pick, Smith has arguably been the best starter that the Marlins have had this season, and while the Rockies have played better overall and can be a tough out at home, Marquez has had no luck against the Fish and has given up at least four runs in each of his last four starts, a combined 19 runs over his last 22 innings of work. Smith threw seven shutout innings in his lone start against Colorado, and while Miami doesn’t win many games, I think they can ride their confidence to a win in the series finale on Sunday so I’d take a stab at the plus money.
