The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Angels square off in the finale of their four game set from Angel Stadium in MLB action on Sunday.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to salvage a series split after winning game three on Saturday by a final score of 4-1. Steve Pearce led the Jays by going 1 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Teoscar Hernandez added a solo shot as well to round out Toronto’s scoring in the win. Kevin Pillar added a double, while Yangervis Solarte, Russell Martin, Aledmys Diaz and Devon Travis each contributed base hits as well in the victory. Marcus Stroman threw five shutout innings, giving up six hits and striking out five, but still couldn’t get his first win of the season after not factoring in the decision. Seung Hwan Oh received his 3rd blown save but got the win to improve to 3-2 this season, while Ryan Tepera picked up his 6th save of the year. Sam Gaviglio will start the finale and is 2-2 with a 3.75 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gaviglio is 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA and 3 strikeouts against the Angels.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels will look to rebound and win the series after dropping game three on Saturday. Luis Valbuena’s solo homer accounted for the lone Angels run in the loss, while David Fletcher went 2 for 4 at the plate. Mike Trout, Justin Upton, Andrelton Simmons, Kole Calhoun, Jose Briceno and Jose Miguel Fernandez each added a base knock as well to cap off L.A.’s offense in the losing effort. Jaime Barria gave up one run on four hits while walking four and striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Justin Anderson ended up with the loss to fall to 1-2 this season. Felix Pena will start game four and is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season. This will be Pena’s first career start against Toronto.

Toronto is 2-10 in their last 12 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the AL West while the over is 10-3 in their last 13 road games against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 7-2 in their last 9 home games and 9-4 in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 8-2-2 in their last 12 games overall. Toronto is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

Los Angeles is the more consistent team overall this season, and Toronto has had a hard time stringing positive results together, especially on the road. However, we are getting some solid plus money with a Blue Jays team that has a ton of momentum after that home run in the 9th last night, and with Gaviglio who is a more proven commodity that Pena who is a reliever just making a spot start. I’d lay something small on Toronto or leave this one alone, so take it for what you will.
