The Oakland Athletics visit the Motor City for an MLB match up with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
The Oakland Athletic took the series opener at Detroit by a 5-4 count on Monday afternoon despite a poor effort from the bullpen. Oakland starter Edwin Jackson allowed a run over six innings before three relievers gave up a run each in two frames.

The Athletics racked up 12 hits and walked three times with Jed Lowrie going solo while Stephen Piscotty went 3-5 with a homer and a pair of runs followed by Jonathan Lucroy who was 3-4 with a run and RBI.
Oakland gives Tuesday’s start to Frankie Montas who last faced the Tigers in 2015. Montas is looking for consecutive victories after downing San Diego 12-4 where he gave up a run in 6.2 frames.
The Detroit Tigers suffered through a bullpen implosion on their way to Monday’s series opening defeat to the visiting Athletics. Detroit starter Jordan Zimmermann tossed five shutout innings with Louis Coleman serving up a homer before Joe Jimenez gave up three runs followed by Shane Greene who surrendered a solo shot in the 9th to get the loss.
The Tigers banged out ten hits with Nicholas Castellanos going 2-5 with a homer, three runs knocked in while scoring twice.
The Tigers hand the ball to rookie Blaine Hardy who makes his 8th start when he opposes Oakland for the first time. Hardy defeated the White Sox 3-1 last time out with the lone run allowed over 5.1 frames.
Over is 15-5-2 in Oakland last 22 overall and over is 15-5-2 in Oakland last 22 on grass and Oakland are 6-2 in their last 8 overall. Under is 5-2 in Detroit last 7 home games and under is 5-1 in Hardy’s last 6 starts on grass and under is 5-1 in Hardy’s last 6 starts overall.
I don’t see a world of difference in the pitching here but I’ll back the pesky Athletics who aren't bad…
