The Seattle Mariners and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game three of their four game set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Wednesday.
The Seattle Mariners will look to win the series and push for the sweep on Thursday after winning game two on Tuesday by a final score of 3-2. Kyle Seager accounted for all three Mariner runs, going 2 for 4 with a home run. Jean Segura went 3 for 4 and Dee Gordon and Mitch Haniger each had a double while Ben Gamel and Guillermo Heredia each had a base hit as well for the M’s in the win. James Paxton got the win to improve to 7-2 this season, giving up both runs on six hits while striking out ten over seven innings of work. Wade LeBlanc will start game three and is 3-0 with a 3.26 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, LeBlanc is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA and 9 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after dropping three straight, including their loss on Tuesday. Danny Valencia went 2 for 3 with a solo home run while Trey Mancini added two hits and Tim Beckham chipped in a double. Adam Jones, Mark Trumbo and Caleb Joseph each added base hits as well in the losing effort. Kevin Gausman gave up one run on five hits while striking out four over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Darren O’Day ended up with the loss while Tanner Scott received his 2nd blown save of the year. Alex Cobb will start game three and is 2-9 with a 6.56 ERA and 49 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cobb is 2-4 with a 6.81 ERA and 33 strikeouts against Seattle.
Seattle is 12-3 in LeBlanc’s last 15 starts and 21-8 in their last 29 games against a right-handed starter while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Baltimore is 0-4 in Cobb’s last 5 home starts and 1-10 in their last 11 games against the AL West while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games. Seattle is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.
Seattle has cooled off at the end of the month, but the Mariners are still the better team here and have been playing better baseball all season. The Orioles continue to be unbackable, and that includes Cobb, who despite giving up just one run in his last start, has been getting rocked all season long and is 0-4 with an ERA just shy of six at home this season. LeBlanc has been pretty much money for the Mariners, even though he gave up six runs in his last start, that came against a very good Boston team and he hadn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his previous nine starts to that game. I think this is a good spot for LeBlanc to bounce back and Seattle with the low line has to be one of the better value plays on Wednesday’s lineup.
