The Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox meet in game two of their three game set from Fenway Park in MLB action on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Angels will look to bounce back and snap a four game losing streak after dropping the series opener on Tuesday by a final score of 9-1. Chris Young’s solo home run accounted for the lone Angels’ run in the loss, with Ian Kinsler going 2 for 4 at the plate while Andrelton Simmons and Mike Trout each adding a base knock as well. John Lamb took the loss, falling to 0-1 this season after giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits over just 1.2 innings of work. Andrew Heaney will start game two and is 4-5 with a 3.43 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. This will be Heaney’s second career start against Boston.

The Boston Red Sox will look to build on their series opening win after taking down the Angels on Tuesday. Jackie Bradley Jr. led the BoSox by going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, while Mookie Betts, Christian Vazquez and J.D. Martinez each hitting a solo home run. Andrew Benintendi and Mitch Moreland each added an RBI to round out Boston’s scoring with Benintendi adding a double. Xander Bogaerts and Brock Holt also added a double while Blake Swihart and Eduardo Nunez each contributed base hits as well. David Price got the win to improve to 9-5 this season after giving up the one run on five hits while striking out seven over six innings of work. Rick Porcello will start game two and is 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA and 94 strikeouts this season. In his career, Porcello is 7-7 with a 5.51 ERA and 75 strikeouts against the Angels.
Los Angeles is 0-5 in Heaney’s last 5 road starts and 1-7 in their last 8 road games while the over is 9-3-2 in their last 14 games overall. Boston is 12-5 in their last 17 home games and 5-2 in Porcello’s last 7 home starts while the over is 7-1-1 in Porcello’s last 9 starts overall. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
The Angels just seem to be mired in this slump right now, which includes Tuesday’s blowout loss and a defeat on Monday at the hands of the lowly Royals. Now Heaney starts for the Halos and hasn’t had any luck on the road as of late which you could also say for the Angels as a team. Porcello has pitched well lately, giving up two runs or less in four of his last five starts, and Boston is always a tough out at home so given the reasonable line, I will lay the juice with Boston to extend the Angels’ woes.
