Coming our way Wednesday from Guaranteed Rate Field, the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox will be continuing their MLB series.

In the Tuesday opener (after a rain delay pushed the game back), the Sox scored six runs in a span of three innings on the way to an 8-4 win.

Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

For Wednesday’s game, the Twins will be rolling with RHP Kyle Gibson for the start. Over 88.2 innings and a 2-5 record this year, Gibson has a 3.25 ERA with 86 Ks and 39 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Twins this year is Eddie Rosario, with 93 hits, 54 runs, 17 homers and 50 RBI entering this set. On Tuesday, Rosario went 0-for-4.

Over on the Sox’ side, they’re bringing out James Shields for the Wednesday outing. In his 100.0 innings and 2-9 mark this year, Shields has a 4.59 ERA with 68 Ks and 39 BBs.

Leading the Sox’ offense this season is Jose Abreu, who had 81 hits, 37 runs, 11 homers and 44 RBI coming into this series. In game one, Abreu managed an RBI.

The Twins are 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games and 20-8 in Gibson’s last 28 road starts. Minnesota is also 2-5 in Gibson’s last seven starts and 0-4 in his last four starts in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the White Sox are 14-38 in their last 52 in game two of a series and 1-4 in Shields’ last five starts with four days’ rest. Chicago is also 1-5 in Shields’ last six starts and 1-5 in his last six starts versus the AL Central.

Gibson is sitting on three straight quality starts, giving up five earned over a span of 20.0 innings in those. As for Shields, he’s been fairly consistent lately (except for one outing in Minnesota on June 7) and has given up six earned over his last three starts in 17.2 innings. This should be a decent pitching matchup, but I’m sticking with Shields and the Twins.
