The Detroit Tigers will be out to snap their losing streak which currently sits at seven games following their game two loss on Tuesday. Mike Fiers will start game three and is 5-4 with a 4.29 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. In his career, Fiers is 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA and 41 strikeouts against Oakland.
Oakland is 1-8 in Bassitt’s last 9 road starts and 5-16 in Bassitt’s last 21 starts overall while the over is 11-2 in their last 13 games overall. Detroit is 6-0 in Fiers’ last 6 home starts and 0-7 in their last 7 games overall while the underuse 4-1-1 in Fiers’ last 6 starts overall. Oakland is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Detroit.
I got burned by Fiers last time out but I keep saying it and it rings true, that he may be the Tigers’ best pitcher this season. Bassitt has had no luck on the mound, with the A’s losing each of his last five starts and a career ERA sitting well over six against the Tigers. If there was a time for Detroit to snap its’ losing streak, I think it comes on Wednesday with Fiers on the mound, but this is probably a game better left untouched.
