The Kansas City Royals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in the finale of their mini two game interleague set from Miller Park in MLB action on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Royals will look to salvage a series split after dropping the opener on Tuesday by a final score of 5-1. Adalberto Mondesi went 2 for 3 with a double and a solo home run while Rosell Herrera added a double of his own as the Royals mustered up just three hits as a team with the rest of Kansas City going 0 for 23 with 10 strikeouts. Jakob Junis took the loss, falling to 5-9 this season after giving up all five runs on seven hits while striking out seven over five innings of work. Danny Duffy will start game two and is 3-7 with a 5.18 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. This will be Duffy’s first career start against Milwaukee.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to sweep the set after taking game one on Tuesday. Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich each had a home run with two RBIs and two hits, with Braun going 2 for 3 with a double as well. Jesus Aguilar went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo homer to round out the Brew Crew’s scoring in the win. Eric Thames went 2 for 5 with a double while Brad Miller added a base hit of his own to cap off Milwaukee’s offense in the win. Freddy Peralta got the win to improve to 3-0 this season after tossing seven shutout innings, giving up just one hit while striking out ten. Josh Hader closed out the 9th for his 7th save of the year. Brent Suter will start game two and is 8-4 with a 4.15 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season. This will be Suter’s first career start against Kansas City.

Kansas City is 2-9 in their last 11 games against the NL Central and 5-12 in Duffy’s last 17 starts while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 interleague games. Milwaukee is 6-1 in Suter’s last 7 starts and 21-10 in their last 31 home games while the over is 6-0 in Suter’s last 6 home starts. The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.

Duffy has been the definition of up and down lately, alternating horrendous starts with shutouts over his last four starts, including six shutout innings against Houston last time up. The problem is that even with the good outings, the Royals continue to play some of the worst baseball in the majors, continuously finding ways to lose on a daily basis. Suter isn’t a household name necessarily, but the Brewers have won six of his last seven starts by a combined score of 61-16 in those wins. I think it’s safe to say that the Brewers on the run line is a reasonable pick for Wednesday’s card.
