The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet in the finale of their three game set from Guaranteed Rate Field in MLB action on Thursday.

The Minnesota Twins will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep after dropping game two on Wednesday by a final score of 6-1. Ehire Adrianza accounted for four of Minnesota’s five hits as a team in the loss, also driving in the lone run while adding a double. Brian Dozier chipped in a base hit as well to cap off Minnesota’s offense in the losing effort. Kyle Gibson took the loss, falling to 2-6 this season after giving up five runs on 11 hits while striking out seven over seven innings of work. Jake Odorizzi will start game three and is 3-5 with a 4.97 ERA and 80 strikeouts this season. In his career, Odorizzi is 1-2 with a 4.13 ERA and 34 strikeouts against the White Sox.

Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox will look to pull off the sweep after taking game two on Wednesday in convincing fashion. Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia each had a solo home run, while Leury Garcia opened the scoring with an RBI double. Tim Anderson, Omar Narvaez and Charlie Wilson each added an RBI as well, while Yan Moncada and Daniel Palka each contributed a base hit as well in the win. James Shields got the win to improve to 3-9 this season after throwing seven shutout innings, giving up just four hits while striking out five in the win. Lucas Giolito will start game three and is 5-7 with a 7.01 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. In his career, Giolito is 1-2 with a 4.42 ERA and 8 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 4-10 in their last 14 road games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Chicago is 2-6 in Giolito’s last 8 home starts and 7-20 in their last 27 division matchups while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall. Minnesota is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.

There’s no way I’m laying juice with the Twins on the road, considering how the White Sox have owned them in this series. However, there isn’t enough plus money on the table for me to back Giolito in this spot. Giolito has given up four runs or more in five of his last six starts and Odorizzi just gave up six runs in just 1.2 innings in his last starts and has allowed four runs or more in three of his last five starts. Seems like a good spot to take the over in my opinion.
