The New York Mets have not been able to get a grasp on anything positive and the result has been losses in eight of nine after a 5-3 defeat to Pittsburgh where the pen imploded late. New York starter Zack Wheeler gave his team seven shutout innings before Robert Gsellman gave up a run in the 8th followed by Jeurys Famillia who was charged with four runs in the 9th to fall to 3-4.

The Mets attack featured six hits and a base on balls with Wilmer Flores smacking is 6th long ball while Jose Bautista drove n a run and scored followed by Asdrubal Cabrera who had three hits and a RBI.
The Mets send Jacob deGrom to the hill for the series opener at Miami on Friday. DeGrom comes off of an 8-3 loss to the LA Dodgers where he allowed three runs on five hits and three BB in six frames.
The Miami Marlins are in need of a prolonged hot streak and will have to wait at least another day to start one after Thursday’s 4-0 loss to visiting Arizona. Miami starter Trevor Richard was charged with three runs over four frames to get the loss.
The Marlins banged out ten hits but did not walk with JT Riddle leading the way with three singles while Bryan Holaday went 2-3. The Marlins hand Friday’s starting assignment to right hander Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara appeared in eight games out of the pen for St. Louis in 2017 and went 0-0 with a 4.32 ERA in 8.1 innings.
