The Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in game two of their four game NL East division set in MLB action from Citizen’s Bank Park on Friday.

The Washington Nationals will look to rebound after suffering a series opening 4-3 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday. Michael A. Taylor and Pedro Severino each had a double and an RBI while Trea Turner went 2 for 4 at the dish. Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon each added a base hit as well to round out Washington’s offense in the losing effort. Tanner Roark took the loss, falling to 3-9 this season after giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits while striking out five over six innings of work. Erick Fedde will start game two and is 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. This will be Fedde’s second career start against Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on their series opening win on Thursday. Rhys Hoskins led the Phillies with two RBIs, going 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. Scott Kingery added an RBI while Maikel Franco went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and Jorge Alfaro added a pair of hits as well. Cesar Hernandez and Nick Williams each added a base hit as well to cap off Pihladelphia’s offense in the win. Aaron Nola picked up the win to improve to 10-2 this season after giving up one run on five hits while striking out eight over 7.2 innings of work. Seranthony Dominguez picked up his 6th save of the season by striking out a pair in the 9th. Nick Pivetta will start game two and is 4-6 with a 4.06 ERA and 101 strikeouts this season. In his career, Pivetta is 0-2 with a 9.19 ERA and 19 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington is 1-4 in Fedde’s last 5 starts and 0-6 in their last 6 road games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 division matchups. Philadelphia is 10-3 in Pivetta’s last 13 home starts and 6-2 in their last 8 division matchups while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 home games. Philadelphia is 0-4 in Pivetta’s last 4 starts against Washington.

There’s reason to look at the plus money considering Pivetta has had his struggles against Washington in his career, giving up 16 runs in 15.2 innings, including six in just one inning earlier this season. However, Pivetta rebounded nicely by giving up just two earned over five innings his last start against the Nationals and it will be his first start at home against the Nationals, a home field where Pivetta has an ERA just over three compared to an ERA just under six on the road. Fedde has given up at least three runs in each of his seven career starts and I think he will be roughed up again on Friday, so I’ll lay the low line with Philadelphia on Friday.
