The Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays face off in game three of their four game set from Rogers Centre in MLB action on Sunday.

The Detroit Tigers are in dire need of a win after their losing streak hit double digits on Saturday with a 4-3 loss. Nick Castellanos led the Tigers with a home run and two RBIs going 2 for 4 at the dish, while John Hicks added a solo homer as well. Jeimer Candelario added a double while Grayson Greiner, Jose Iglesias and Leonys Martin each added a base hit as well in the losing effort. Matt Boyd gave up three runs on four hits while striking out seven over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Joe Jimenez took the loss, falling to 3-1 this season. Jordan Zimmermann will start game three and is 2-0 with a 4.35 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. In his career, Zimmermann is 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA and 10 strikeouts against Toronto.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Detroit Tigers - 7/1/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to win the set and push for the sweep on Monday after winning game two in walk-off fashion on Saturday. Randal Grichuk led the Jays with a homer and two RBIs, while Devon Travis added an RBI and Justin Smoak belted the game-winning homer in the bottom of the 9th. Yangervis Solarte went 2 for 3 and Kevin Pillar added a double while Aledmys Diaz added a base knock of his own in the victory. Sam Gaviglio gave up all three runs on four hits while walking three and striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Seunghwan Oh picked up the win to improve to 3-2 this season. J.A. Happ will start game three and is 10-3 with a 3.62 ERA and 106 strikeouts this season. In his career, Happ is 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA and 44 strikeouts against Detroit.

Detroit is 1-10 in their last 11 games overall and 3-8 in Zimmermann’s last 11 road starts against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in Zimmermann’s last 5 game 3 starts. Toronto is 6-2 in Happ’s last 8 starts and 9-1 in their last 10 home games while the under is 18-5-2 in Happ’s last 25 home starts against a team with a losing record. Detroit is 2-11 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

Toronto has won six of the last eight games that Happ has pitched, with Haps not taking a loss in any of those eight games. Detroit just keeps finding ways to lose, and even though the plus money is tempting with Zimmermann on the bump who has thrown shutouts in three of his last four starts pre and post injury, I just can’t bring myself to back Detroit here. This is a thick line, so since five of those six victories with Haps on the mound during his unbeaten run have been by more than two runs, I’ll back the Jays on the run line to push for the sweep on Monday.
