The San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies meet in the rubber match of their three game NL West division set from Coors Field in MLB action on Wednesday.
The San Francisco Giants will look to rebound after dropping game two on Tuesday by a final score of 8-1. Alen Hanson went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Brandon Belt went 2 for 4, Brandon Crawford and Austin Jackson each had a base knock as San Fran put up just six hits as a team in the defeat. Chris Stratton took the loss, falling to 8-6 this season after giving up all eight runs on 11 hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings of work. Andrew Suarez will start game three and is 3-4 with a 4.18 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season. This will be Suarez’s second career start against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to steal the series after evening the set up at one win apiece following their win on Tuesday. Nolan Arenado led the Rockies, going 2 for 4 with a home run and three TBIs. Charlie Blackmon went 3 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs, while DJ LeMahieu, Trevor Story and Gerardo Parra each added an RBI to round out the scoring for Colorado in the win, with Story tripling while LeMahieu added a double. Ian Desmond was 2 for 4 with a double of his own while Carlos Gonzalez added a base hit as well to cap off Colorado’s offense in the victory. Antonio Senzatela got the win after tossing seven three hit shutout innings, striking out four en route to the win. Tyler Anderson will start the finale and is 5-3 with a 4.23 ERA and 85 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 0-2 with a 5.56 ERA and 9 strikeouts against San Francisco.
San Francisco is 10-4 in their last 14 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 division matchups while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 road games. Colorado is 0-5 in Anderson’s last 5 home starts and 3-7 in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter. Colorado is 0-4 in Anderson’s last 4 starts against San Francisco.
Colorado rebounded nicely in game two, but Anderson is a better pitcher on the road than at home. On the road, Anderson is 4-0 with a 3.48 ERA while at Coors Field he is 1-3 with an ERA over five. Furthermore, Anderson hasn’t had any luck against San Francisco in his career, allowing 14 earned runs in just 22 innings of work with the Rockies losing all four of his starts. Suarez has had his struggles, especially on the road, but he has allowed two runs or less in five of his last six starts and given that the Giants are the team in better form lately, I think the even money with San Francisco is worth a look on Wednesday.
