The New York Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in the finale of their mini two game set from Rogers Centre in MLB action on Wednesday.

The New York Mets will look to salvage a series split after dropping game one on Tuesday by a final score of 8-6. Devin Mesoraco and Asdrubal Cabrera each had a two run home run, while Wilmer Flores hit a solo home run and Michael Conforto added a double and an RBI to round out the Mets’ scoring in the loss. Dominic Smith had a pair of doubles and Brandon Nimmo added a two-bagger while Jose Bautista added a base hit of his own in his return to Toronto. Zack Wheeler gave up two runs on three hits while striking out five over 6.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tim Peterson took the loss to fall to 1-1 this season. Corey Oswalt will start game two and is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. This will be Oswalt’s first career start against Toronto.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Mets - 7/4/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to finish off the two game sweep after winning game one on Tuesday. Yangervis Solarte and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. each had a home run and three RBIs, while Curtis Granderson went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Teoscar Hernandez, Randal Grichuk and Devon Travis each has a base hit as well in the winning effort for Toronto. John Axford ended up with the win to improve his record to 2-1 this season as Toronto used eight different pitchers in the win. Marcus Stroman will start game two and is 1-5 with a 6.02 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. This will be Stroman’s first career start against Toronto.

New York is 1-6 in their last 7 road games and 3-12 in their last 15 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the AL East. Toronto is 9-3 in Stroman’s last 12 interleague starts and 11-3 in their last 14 home games while the over is 20-6 in their last 26 games against the NL East. New York is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

The Mets continue to remain unbackable no matter how much plus money you get because this team just keeps finding creative ways to lose baseball games. Oswalt didn’t help matters in his lone career start, giving up six runs in 2.2 innings against the lowly Marlins. Toronto has been playing better at home as of late, and Stroman has allowed just one run in his last two starts spanning 12 innings. All in all I think Stroman can keep his run going and Toronto can win this game by a couple of runs so I’ll back the Blue Jays on the run line.
