The Miami Marlins visit the nation’s capitol to take the field with the Washington Nationals in Thursday MLB.
The Miami Marlins will be gunning for back to back victories after downing visiting Tampa Bay 3-0 on Wednesday. Miami starter Jose Urena add not receive a decision despite throwing five scoreless frames with Drew Rucinski getting the win with a hit allowed in a two inning stint.

The Marlins did their damage on six hits and three free passes with JT Riddle leading the way with three hits including a homer, two BI’s and a pair of runs while JB Shuck knocked in a run and Starlin Castro went 2-3 with a run.
The Marlins send rookie Pablo Lopez to the bump Thursday for his second career start. Lopez picked up a 5-2 win un his debut versus the Mets with a pair of solo homers allowed through six innings.
The Washington Nationals were never able to get anything going at the plate Wednesday and were shutout for the 9th time in 2018 by a 3-0 count. Erick Fedde left after one inning with an undisclosed injury but Matt Grace kept Washington alive with seven scoreless frame before Ryan Madson and Kelviin Herrera gave up 7th inning runs.
That was too much for the Nationals offense to overcome with six hits and a base o balls. Trea Turner was the only Washington player to reach base twice with a pair of singles. Jeremy Hellickson makes his second straight start for Washington since coming off the DL with a hamstring issue. Hellickson dropped a 3-2 decision at Philadelphia with all three runs scoring in 4.2 frames.

The Nationals are the better team but are not nearly as fearsome as in past years. If I were to bet this I would just put something on Miami to keep me interested…
