PNC Park and the Pittsburgh Prates welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to town in a Friday MLB tilt.
The Philadelphia Phillies swept the Orioles in their two game interleague series following a 4-1 decision on Wednesday. Philadelphia ace Aaron Nola gave up the lone run on seven hits and two BB while striking out nine through seven frames to up his record to 11-2.

The Phillies offense did their damage on just three hits and a trio of base on balls with Nick Williams going deep and driving in two while scoring twice followed by Jorge Alfaro recorded an RBI.
The Phillies will be sending Nick Pivetta to the hill in the series opener at Pittsburgh. Pivetta is shooting for back to back wins after picking up a victory at Washington with a scoreless inning of relief.
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to quickly regroup after Wednesday’s 6-4 defeat at the LA Dodgers had the team getting swept in their three game series. Pittsburgh starter Clay Holmes was charged with four runs on five hits and three BB in 2.1 frames to get the loss with Tyler Glasnow giving up two runs without getting an out.
The Pirates banged out nine hits and walked twice with Gregory Polanco going 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Starling Marte was 2-4 with a run and knocked in a pair.
Trevor Williams toes the rubber against the Phillies in game one of their series on Friday. Williams has dropped back to back games after a 4-3 loss at San Diego with four runs plated over 4.2 innings.
Philadelphia are 1-8 in their last 9 Friday games and Philadelphia are 2-7 in Pivetta’s last 9 Friday starts and under is 5-2-1 in Pivetta’s last 8 road starts. Pittsburgh are 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games and are 2-6 in Williams' last 8 starts and are 2-6 in Williams' last 8 starts on grass. Under is 16-6-4 in the last 26 meetings.
The Phillies have been winning and Pittsburgh has not but Philadelphia has been squeezing by. I’d do something on the Pirates but I’m a Philly fan and I’m hoping to be wrong…
