We’ve got another interesting matchup looming Friday from Nationals Park as the Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals continue their MLB series.

In the Thursday opener of this set, we had a crazy game as both teams went on scoring tears. When the dust settled, the Nats had secured a 14-12 win.

For Friday’s game, the Marlins will be bringing out RHP Dan Straily. Over his 59.1 innings and 3-4 record this year, Straily has a 4.70 ERA with 52 Ks.

Tops in hitting for Miami this year is Starlin Castro, who brought 100 hits, 52 runs and 31 RBI into this set. On Thursday, Castro logged two hits and a run.

Over on the Nats’ side, they’re going with lefty Gio Gonzalez on Friday. Across his 90.2 innings and 6-5 record this year, Gonzalez has a 3.77 ERA with 86 Ks and 43 BBs.

Leading the way for the Nationals hitters on the year is Trea Turner, who came into this set with 94 hits, 48 runs and 29 RBI. In the opener, Turner ripped two homers with a whopping eight RBI.

The Marlins are 5-12 in their last 17 road games versus a left-handed starter and 1-4 in their last five games versus a left-handed starter. The over is 8-3 in Miami’s last 11 road games versus a left-handed starter and 5-2-1 in their last eight games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

Meanwhile, the Nats are 1-4 in their last five Friday games and 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series. Washington is also 0-4 in Gonzalez’s last four starts and 5-1 in his last six home starts.

This series could be a good opportunity for the flailing Nationals to get back on track, and in this game it all starts with Gonzalez. In his last start, Gonzalez was okay with three earned on three hits in 5.0 innings, but in the three starts before that he coughed up 13 earned over 11.0 innings. I’m going to put a little faith in Gonzalez and the Nats bats here and take Washington for the win, but nothing is assured right now in DC.
