The Oakland A’s and the Cleveland Indians meet in game two of their three game set in MLB action from Progressive Field on Saturday.
The Oakland A’s will look to rebound after being taken down in Friday’s opener by a final score of 10-4. Dustin Fowler led the A’s by going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs while Matt Olson went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and a double and Mark Canha went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI as well. Marcus Semien went 2 for 4 at the plate while Matt Chapman and Khris Davis each contributed a base hit as well in the loss. Paul Blackburn took the loss, falling to 2-3 this season after giving up six runs, five earned, on seven hits over four innings of work. Edwin Jackson will start game two and is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. In his career, Jackson is 10-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 79 strikeouts against Cleveland.

The Cleveland Indians will look to win the series and push for the sweep on Sunday after taking the opener on Friday. Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnacion led the Tribe with two hits with a double and three RBIs apiece, while Michael Brantley added an RBI and a pair of doubles. Yonder Alonso and Jason Kipnis each added an RBI while Francisco Lindor went 2 for 3 and Greg Allen added a base knock as well in the winning effort. Carlos Carrasco got the win to improve to 9-5 this season after giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings of work. Corey Kluber will start game two and is 12-4 with a 2.64 ERA and 120 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kluber is 2-4 with a 2.66 ERA and 48 strikeouts against Oakland.
Oakland is 14-4 in their last 18 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Cleveland is 48-19 in Kluber’s last 67 starts and 5-0 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 7-1 in Kluber’s last 8 home starts. Oakland is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Normally, going against Corey Kluber is a good way to burn a hole in your pocket and waste your bankroll. However, Kluber has given up nine runs in his last two starts spanning just 7.2 innings, and doesn’t have the best record against the A’s in his career. Oakland is a different team on the road yes, but Jackson has been solid in his first two starts for the A’s and has been pretty much money against the Indians in his career. As far as Saturday goes, I’d probably just watch this game, but if forced to pick, I’d put something small on Oakland to try to more than double my wager.
