For the Saturday game, the Rangers will be rolling with lefty Cole Hamels. Over his 102.1 innings and 4-7 mark this year, Hamels has a 4.05 ERA with 104 Ks and 37 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Rangers this year is Shin-Soo Choo, who came into game two with 93 hits, 51 runs, 16 homers and 41 RBI. On Friday, Choo had a solo homer and two hits.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they’re sending out Mike Fiers on Saturday. Across 92.2 innings and a 5-5 mark this year, Fiers has a 3.79 ERA with 68 Ks and 20 BBs.

Nick Castellanos is the top hitter on the Tigers’ roster this season with 106 hits, 48 runs, 14 homers and 54 RBI entering Friday. In game two, Castellanos logged an 0-for-4 night.

The Rangers are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games and 6-13 in Hamels’ last 19 starts. Texas is 0-4 in Hamels’ last four starts in game three of a series and 33-11 in his last 44 starts versus a team with a losing record.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 6-1 in Fiers’ last seven home starts and 4-1 in his last five starts with four days’ rest. Detroit is also 6-2 in Fiers’ last eight starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts on grass.

After a couple of pretty solid games, Hamels has been pretty sketchy lately with 11 earned on 18 hits over his last 10.0 innings in two starts. As for Fiers, he’s given up two earned on eight hits in 15.0 innings over his last two starts, but hasn’t won a game since June 4. I’m not too jazzed about either team here but I’ll take the Tigers to eke one out.
