The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Mets meet in the rubber match of their three game interleague series from Citi Field in MLB action on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Rays will look to win the set after evening the series up at one win apiece following a 3-0 win in game two on Saturday. Wilson Ramos led the Rays, going 2 for 5 with two RBI while Carlos Gomez went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to round out the scoring for Tampa Bay in the win. Matt Duffy, C.J. Cron and Johnny Field each had a double while Kevin Kiermaier and Joey Wendle each contributed a base hit as well in the win. Blake Snell picked up the win to improve to 12-4 this season after tossing 7.1 six hit shutout innings, striking out nine. Sergio Romo closed out the 9th for his 9th save of the season. Nathan Eovaldi will start game three and is 2-3 with a 3.92 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. In his career, Eovaldi is 1-4 with a 5.01 ERA and 37 strikeouts against the Mets.

The New York Mets will look to bounce back and win the set after dropping game two on Saturday. Wilmer Flores led the Mets by going 3 for 4 with a double, while Brandon Nimmo and Jose Reyes each added a two-bagger as well. Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Conforto each chipped in a base hit to cap off New York’s offense in the losing effort. Steven Matz took the loss, falling to 4-6 this season after giving up one run on five hits while striking out five over 6.1 innings of work. Chris Flexen will get the start in the finale and is 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA and 1 strikeout this season. This will be Flexen’s first career start against Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay is 9-4 in their last 13 games overall and 1-5 in Eovaldi’s last 6 starts while the under is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games against a right-handed starter. New York is 5-16 in their last 21 interleague games and 18-40 in their last 58 games overall while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the AL East. Tampa Bay is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

The Mets remain to be unbackable, despite getting a win here and there, New York just can’t string positive results together and now send Flexen to the mound for a spot start when he’s been unreliable to begin with. Eovaldi hasn’t been great, but that’s because the Rays haven’t been able to give him more than two runs of support in five of his last six starts. I see that changing against Flexen, so I’ll back Tampa Bay to win the series on Sunday.
