The Arizona Diamondbacks head to Coors Field to kick off a three game NL West division set against the Colorado Rockies in MLB action on Tuesday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to bounce back after having to settle for a series split with the Padres over the weekend, dropping the series finale by a final score of 4-3 in 16 innings on Sunday. A.J. Pollock led the D-Backs with two RBIs, going 2 for 3 at the dish, while Jeff Mathis went 2 for 6 with a pair of doubles and an RBI of his own. Paul Goldschmidt went 3 for 6 with a double and Ketel Marte went 2 for 5 with a two-bagger of his own while starting pitcher Zack Greinke and Chris Owings each added a base knock to round out Arizona’s offense in the loss. Greinke gave up two runs on six hits over 4.1 innings of work striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Jeff Mathis took the loss falling to 0-1 this season. Patrick Corbin will start game one and is 6-3 with a 3.05 ERA and 140 strikeouts this season. In his career, Corbin is 8-3 with a 4.68 ERA and 89 strikeouts against Colorado.

Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks - 7/10/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies will be looking to bounce back after having their five game winning streak halted with a 6-4 loss in their series finale against Seattle on Sunday. All of Colorado’s damage on the board was done with the long ball, as Trevor Story went 2 for 4 with a two run home run and Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez each hit a solo dinger. Nolan Arenado added a base hit as well as Colorado cranked out five hits as a team in the loss. Antonio Senzatela took the loss, giving up all six runs on five hits over six innings of work to fall to 3-2 this season. Tyler Anderson will start game one and is 6-3 with a 3.90 ERA and 94 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 2-0 with a 6.67 ERA and 37 strikeouts against Arizona.

Arizona is 7-1 in their last 8 road games and 3-9 in Corbin’s last 12 road starts against a team with a winning record while the over is 38-13-1 in their last 52 games following an off day. Colorado is 1-5 in Anderson’s last 6 home starts and 5-1 in their last 6 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter. Arizona is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and 8-0 in the last 8 meetings in Colorado. Arizona is also 13-3 in Corbin’s last 16 starts against Colorado, and 5-2 in his last 7 road starts against the Rockies.

The Rockies come into this one in much better form despite having their five game winning streak snapped on Sunday, and Arizona did have to play 16 innings and even with a day off, you have to wonder if the Diamondbacks will be tired here in the thin air of Colorado. However, Anderson is a better pitcher on the road than at home, as at Coors Field this season he is 2-3 with a 4.37 ERA. Despite the trends, Corbin is in the same boat, being a better pitcher away from Chase Field as he owns a 2-0 record with a 2.32 ERA this season. All in all, I think the head-to-head trends strongly favor the Diamondbacks, and since we are getting plus money, I’ll take a shot at Arizona drawing first blood on Tuesday.
