The San Francisco Giants could use a win here after losing six of their last nine games. The Giants have scored 15 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in nine of their last 12 games. The San Francisco Giants have split their last 12 games when scoring three or less runs. Brandon Crawford leads the Giants with 93 hits and 39 RBI while Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Belt have combined for 173 hits and 81 RBI. Johnny Cueto gets the ball, and he is 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. Cueto is 9-9 with a 3.35 ERA and 122 strikeouts in his career against the Cubs.
The Cubs are 2-8 in their last 10 road games, 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a right-handed starter and 6-2 in Montgomerys last 8 road starts. The Giants are 17-6 in their last 23 home games, 4-1 in Cuetos last 5 home starts and 7-2 in Cuetos last 9 starts. The Cubs are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in San Francisco and the over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in San Francisco..
The San Francisco Giants burned me last night, as I thought Cueto was supposed to take the hill. Oh, well, as the Giants weren't going to win anyway scoring zero runs. As for this game, I'm backing the Giants again, as Cueto was one of the top pitchers in the league before his injury and should be ready for a bounce back performance with a game under his belt. Montgomery has been solid for much of the season, but he has allowed 12 runs in his last 16 innings and has walked a combined 11 batters in his last four starts. I like the Giants on this quick turnaround.
