The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels meet Thursday in MLB action at Angel Stadium.
The Seattle Mariners look for another victory after splitting their last eight games. The Mariners have scored 12 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 13 games. The Seattle Mariners have won 11 of their last 13 games when scoring more than one run. Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 116 hits and 47 RBI while Dee Gordon and Mitch Haniger have combined for 186 hits and 86 RBI. James Paxton gets the ball, and he is 8-3 with a 3.49 ERA and 154 strikeouts this season. Paxton is 4-2 with a 2.07 ERA and 64 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels could also use a win here after splitting their last 12 games. The Angels have scored 13 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in seven of their last 13 games. The Los Angeles Angels have lost nine of their last 10 games when scoring three or less runs. Mike Trout leads the Angels with 100 hits and 50 RBI while Andrelton Simmons and Albert Pujols have combined for 178 hits and 90 RBI. Tyler Skaggs gets the ball, and he is 6-5 with a 2.64 ERA and 100 strikeouts this season. Skaggs is 1-2 with a 4.63 ERA and 48 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series, 5-2 in their last 7 vs. American League West and 10-4 in their last 14 games on grass. The Angels are 10-4 in their last 14 home games, 1-7 in their last 8 during game 3 of a series and 1-4 in Skaggs' last 5 home starts. The Mariners are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles, 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and the over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.
Skaggs and the Angels are worth a look here considering he's gone deep in most of his starts and has allowed two or less runs in each of his last five starts. The problem is Skaggs hasn't pitched in two weeks due to a groin injury, and he's allowing a .295 batting average in 122 at bats against current Mariners. Paxton continues to be one of the best under the radar pitchers in the league this season. The Mariners are also the more consistent team overall, and the Angels can't win without the offense putting up big numbers. I'll back Seattle to get another victory.
